The title of today's post does not refer to the potentially explosive political situation in the country but to that meteorological phenomenon upon which the agriculture of the Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia depends: the monsoon. The skies darken as Express 52 Chiang Mai - Bangkok, after crossing the Khun Tan mountain range, enters a plain of paddy fields near Lampang in northern Thailand on a mid-July afternoon. On that occasion the wind didn't blow the clouds in our direction and we avoided the daily torrential downpour.
